a little welcome wagon of aminals.

Both Guav and I are designers, and I'd say one of the most important things to us is to make sure we expose Brixton to a creative environment that he can grow from and be inspired by. Fortunately, I think we're on top of that thanks to all the artistic people that have already begun to surround him with lovely, handmade gifts.

Our friend Chloe made us this little guy we named Grob. That's Guav's name through the filter of my adorable Grandmother's accent.

This here is the top shelf of the bookcase in Brix's nursery.
On the far left next to the clock, the little orange furry dude was made by friend Danielle. In front of him is another Chloe masterpiece, the sad little blood cell. I'm not sure why he's so sad. He is surrounded with good company like the octopus, created with love by our friend Jen. Next to him is the soft little cuddly sheep Guav's mom crocheted for him. She also made him a couple of great blankets you'll see when I post more pictures of his room soon!

  2. I love those paintings. One thing to watch out for on the stimulation thing is the ability to overstimulate the child. Each child has a different threshold, my oldest often became overstimulated & we just had to hold him until he calmed down.

Have you verified that all of the items taste good?

(btw, I am dar205/31seel/nexist, I've been following Guav's blog for years now)

  3. Hi Bea! This is Johanna. (You and Guav were gracious enough to let me stay with you years ago when I visited NYC with my ex bf, Joe.)

I am very excited for you both. You'll make wonderful parents.

  4. aaaagggh!!! omigawd!! omigawd!! i am a HUGE fan of yours (thru your hubba bubbas' LJ ). *hyperventilates* he hasnt been posting much about you recently. i have been suffering major withdrawals......

and now you've got your own blog!!!!! yaaaaay!! *excites!!*

uuhhmmm... my step dad is the lead singer of a rock band in Singapore. quite often, my mum used to drag my ass to the club papa performs in since i was 5. people say thats a crappy environment for a kid (and they're probably right), but i grew up with a heightened sense of sound & now work in the music industry. it drives me mad whenever i hear an instrument played out of tune. but i am all for creative stimulation!!! stimulate.... stimulaaaate!!! =)

  6. hey guys! thx for checking me out! can't wait to read all your future comments.

@a devil with unity - our plan is definitely not to overstimulate him. only non-battery operated wooden toys or handmade toys in our household for as long as we can help it.. well, unless they're guav's starwars toys, but brixton won't be getting his hands on those for a while!

@johanna - hi johanna!! of course i remember you! you guys were totally sweating my bike walk! i even remember what you guys ordered from the vietnamese restaurant.. so nice hearing from you! xoox.

@guerrrilla - wow, well nice to meet you! ::blush::
